What the job involves
Most drywall repair is less about the hole and more about what surrounds it. A patch that is flat and solid still stands out if the texture does not match the wall it sits in, so the texture work is where the time goes. Houston homes are mostly knockdown or orange peel, and both have to be sprayed and knocked back by hand to blend.
We cut back to sound material, back the opening where it needs support, tape and coat the seams, then match the surrounding texture and feather it out past the repair. The area is left sanded, dusted, and ready for paint.

About the paint
If you have the original paint, we can touch up the repaired area for you. Fair warning on how paint behaves: a spot touch-up on a wall that has not been painted in years will often show as a slightly different sheen even with the exact same can, because the surrounding paint has aged. Painting corner to corner is the only way to guarantee it disappears. We will tell you which one the wall needs before we start.
What affects pricing
Size and number of repairs, the texture being matched, ceiling versus wall, whether the drywall behind it is wet or damaged, and whether painting is included. A handful of anchor holes in one room is quick. Water damage usually means opening the area up to see how far it went.

Repaired, textured, cleaned up
Sanding dust is vacuumed and the area wiped down. We do not leave drywall dust for you to deal with.
Compound needs time to dry between coats. Larger repairs sometimes need a second short visit the next day rather than being rushed in one.

Can you match my existing texture?
Yes. Knockdown and orange peel are the two most common in Houston homes and both are matched by spraying and knocking back by hand. Texture matching is skill work rather than a product you buy, and it is the part that decides whether a repair disappears or stands out.
Will the patch still show after it is painted?
A properly textured patch should not show. What does sometimes show is a difference in paint sheen, because paint on the surrounding wall has aged and a fresh touch-up has not. If the wall has not been painted in several years, painting the full wall corner to corner is the only way to be certain.
Do you paint as well as patch?
We do touch-up painting on repaired areas. If you have the original paint we will use it. If it needs to be bought, we will tell you before we start and add it to the cost.
Cracks keep coming back in the same spot. Why?
Cracks at the corners of doors and windows that reopen after being patched are usually movement, not bad patching. Houston sits on clay soil that swells and shrinks with the weather, and that moves foundations. We can repair the crack, but if the house is still moving it can return. Repeated cracking in the same place is worth having a foundation company look at.
Can you fix water damaged drywall?
Yes, once the leak itself is fixed and the area is dry. Patching over drywall that is still wet traps the moisture and the problem comes back worse. We cut out the damaged material, check what is behind it, and rebuild.
How much mess does it make?
Sanding drywall compound makes fine dust. We cover floors and nearby furniture, and vacuum and wipe down afterward. Most single-room repairs are done in one visit.
