Christmas Light Installation in Houston

Nobody's first choice is a ladder in December. We hang the roofline, the trees, and the walkway, then come back in January and take it all down.

What the job involves

Most of the work is measuring and planning before a single clip goes on. Rooflines run longer than people estimate, and the difference between a display that looks deliberate and one that looks improvised is usually spacing and a straight line along the eave.

The rest is access. Single-storey front elevations are straightforward; two-storey and steep pitches take longer and are the main thing that moves a price. Clips are chosen for the surface — gutter, shingle, or fascia — so nothing is stapled or nailed into your roof.

Common situations

  • Roofline and gutter runs across the front of the house
  • Wrapped trunks and lit branches in the front yard
  • Walkway stakes and driveway edges
  • Garland and wreaths on railings, columns, and doors
  • Timers set so the display runs on its own
  • Take-down and coiling in January

Using your own lights

You supply the lights, which keeps the cost down and means the set is yours year after year. Commercial-grade strands are worth the difference over the thin retail ones — they survive storage and a Houston winter far better. Buy roughly 20 percent more length than the roofline measures, and send a photo before you order if you want a second opinion on quantity.

What affects pricing

Linear feet of roofline, how many storeys, roof pitch and whether it can be walked, how many trees and how tall, and whether take-down is booked at the same time. A photo of the full front of the house taken from the street answers most of it.

How it works

Four steps, start to finish

01

Call, text, or send photos

Tell us what needs doing. Photos of the wall, fixture, or item help a lot.

02

Get pricing or next steps

We review the details and come back with pricing or what we still need to know.

03

Schedule the project

Pick a time that works. Several small projects can often share one visit.

04

Work completed and area cleaned

Work checked before we leave, packaging removed, and the work area cleaned up.

Many projects can be quoted from photos. If an on-site evaluation is needed, any applicable service or consultation fee will be discussed before scheduling.

Questions

Holiday lighting questions

Do you supply the lights, or do I buy them?

You supply them, which keeps the cost down and means you own what goes up. Buy commercial-grade strands rather than the thin ones that fail after a season, and buy about 20 percent more length than you think you need — rooflines measure longer than they look. Send a photo of the house and we'll tell you roughly how much to get before you order.

Do you come back and take them down?

Yes, and it's booked as its own visit in January. Take-down is worth arranging when we install, because January fills up with the same customers all at once. Strands come down, get coiled properly, and go back in your boxes rather than in a tangle.

When should I book?

October or the first week of November. Installation runs from early November, and the good dates go first — by the first week of December most of the season is spoken for. Booking early costs nothing and gets you the weekend you actually want.

Can you do a two-storey roofline?

Yes. Height and roof pitch are the two things that change the price, so a photo of the full front of the house from the street tells us more than anything else. Very steep or slick roofs may need to be worked from a ladder rather than walked, which takes longer.

Is it only rooflines, or can you do trees and walkways too?

Trees, wrapped columns, walkway stakes, garland on railings, and wreaths all get done. Trees in particular take longer than roofline per foot, so mention them when you ask so the quote reflects it.

What if a section goes out in December?

Call and we'll come back out. Most mid-season failures are a loose connection or one dead strand rather than the whole run, and it's usually a short visit.
