Service Terms

Last updated: February 2026

Read this first. This page is a general explanation of how we work, provided for information. It does not replace the document for your project. If anything on this page conflicts with your accepted estimate, invoice, work order, or signed agreement, that document controls.

Scope of work

The work included is the work specifically listed in the accepted estimate, invoice, work order, or agreed scope for your project. Items not listed are not included, even if they are related or nearby.

Additional work and changes

If you would like something done beyond the agreed scope, or if conditions at the property mean additional work is needed, that work may require additional pricing and your approval before we proceed. Wherever practical, we will discuss a material change with you before performing extra work.

Existing and concealed conditions

Homes frequently contain conditions that are not visible until work begins. These can include previous damage, earlier installations that were done improperly, water damage, rot, mold, pests, structural conditions, wiring or plumbing that is inaccessible or not where expected, code-related issues, and unknown conditions inside a wall or ceiling.

Conditions of this kind may affect how, when, or whether work can be completed, and may affect pricing. Plinth Home Improvement is not responsible for conditions that already existed before our work, and discovering such a condition is not a defect in our work.

Products you supply

Customers often supply their own TVs, mounts, ceiling fans, light fixtures, chandeliers, mirrors, furniture, shelving, smart home devices, plumbing fixtures, window treatments, and hardware. We are glad to install items you have purchased.

We are not the manufacturer or seller of those products. If a supplied item is defective, damaged, missing parts, incomplete, mismatched, or not compatible with the wall, ceiling, opening, or existing connections, additional work, additional parts, a return trip, or rescheduling may be required, and pricing may be affected.

Sending us a photo or model number before scheduling is the simplest way to catch a compatibility problem early.

Access to the work area

Please provide reasonable access to the area where work will be performed, including clearing fragile or valuable items, and arranging access to the property, parking, and any gates, elevators, or building requirements. Where an area is not reasonably accessible at the scheduled time, work may need to be rescheduled.

Pricing

Pricing is based on the information available and the conditions known at the time it is quoted, including what is visible in the photos or description provided.

Factors that can affect pricing include the wall or ceiling material, mounting height, access, the size and weight of the item, the condition of supplied products, concealed conditions, and any change in scope.

On-site evaluations

Many projects can be quoted from photos. If an on-site evaluation is needed, any applicable service or consultation fee will be discussed with you before scheduling.

Walls, surfaces, and cosmetic repair

Installing, removing, or relocating items can reveal or create holes, marks, fastener openings, differences in paint, drywall or plaster conditions, and conditions in tile, masonry, or other surfaces. This is a normal part of this kind of work.

Patching, painting, texture work, and cosmetic repair are included only when specifically stated in the scope for your project. Where they are not listed, they are not included.

Matching finishes

Exact matching of paint, texture, grout, caulk, flooring, wood, stain, or aged and weathered materials cannot always be achieved. Existing finishes change with time, light, and cleaning, and a new material may differ visibly from the surrounding surface even when carefully selected.

Reviewing completed work

Please look over the completed work while we are there, or as soon as is practical, and let us know about any concerns you notice. Raising something promptly is usually the easiest way for us to address it.

Payment

Payment is due as set out in the accepted estimate, invoice, or payment terms for your project. Any deposit requirements, payment schedule, accepted payment methods, or other charges will be stated in that document.

Cancellation and rescheduling

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know as early as you reasonably can so the time can be offered to someone else. We will do the same if something on our side requires a change. Any specific cancellation or rescheduling terms for your project will be stated in your estimate or invoice.

Permits and licensed trades

Some work requires a permit or must be performed by a licensed trade. Plinth Home Improvement does not perform work that falls outside the scope we are lawfully able to carry out. Where a project requires permits, inspections, or a licensed trade, that may need to be arranged separately, and we will tell you if we believe your project falls into that category.

Warranties

Any warranty that applies to a particular project will be stated in the estimate, invoice, or agreement for that project. This website does not itself create or extend a warranty.

Manufacturer warranties

Products supplied by the customer remain covered by the manufacturer's own warranty, if any, and claims relating to a product itself are handled through the manufacturer or seller.

Limitation

To the extent permitted by applicable law, our responsibility relating to a project is limited to the work we performed under the agreed scope for that project. We are not responsible for pre-existing or concealed conditions, for defects in products supplied by others, or for indirect or consequential losses.

Nothing on this page is intended to limit any right you have that cannot be limited under applicable law.

The project document controls

These Service Terms are general website content. The accepted estimate, invoice, work order, or signed agreement for your project is the document that governs the work, and it may contain additional or different terms. Where there is a conflict, that document applies.
